Q-Fin Robot Cell RC 1200

July 12, 2025 - Eindhoven. Our development towards the automatic deburring of sheet steel. From manual entry and removal to an automatic cell with a vision-controlled robot arm.

Q-Fin's complete solution in collaboration with:

Yaskawa: Robots

Schneider Electric: Software, Motion, and Robotics

Schmalz: (Smart) Gripper, vacuum technology

Inno Metal is Q-Fin's development partner for their RC 1200 automatic deburring cell. Inno had been using the FS 1200 for deburring sheet metal for several years. The need for further automation of the deburring process brought Inno back into contact with Q-Fin.

We have identified all possible requirements and created a PvE that is feasible in the context of the current state of technology. Based on this, the system was developed:

  • vision-controlled robot arm and gripper for automatic picking up and placing of products
  • undefined offering of products
  • “intelligent” gripper that only uses the suction cups that fully touch the product (no loss of vacuum)
  • No need to program
  • Integration with ERP
  • Max. product size: A3 (420 x 300mm) — covers 60% product range
  • automatic positioning with
    • optimal use of the conveyor belt
    • ideal product direction (in length)

We are enthusiastic about the results and are further developing the next steps together, namely automatic removal and stacking on pallets and possibly also the “single pass” double-sided deburring, which is still a challenge in the industry.
